ACCEPTED TO NYU W/ MLK SCHOLARS!!!

Woke up this morning with an email that I was accepted and received the Martin Luther King Jr. scholarship award for 45k every year! I'm seriously stressing out now because NYU was nowhere near my top choice but it seems like I can't pass it up.
Anyone know anything good about NYU in regards to political science or the MLK scholars program in general?

Congratulations! I may have not been your top choice, but you were one of mine. <3
This was RD? I thought they released all their decisions on April 1?
Yeah RD. This was the first line of the email:
"On behalf of the Admissions Committee, I am thrilled to share with you that you have been admitted to the College of Arts and Science at New York University. You will have access to your official offer of admission on March 30. I simply wanted to get this news to you now." And then the letter (written by the dean of admissions) proceeded to tell me about the award.
So most people will be notified on March 30, I guess!
3.8something UW 4.21 W, freshman year messed me up but after freshman year I got straight A's. 32 ACT Took all my classes at a local community college. ECs include Facebook internship, started a club on campus around social justice, part of youth commission and other committees for the county I live in, etc
Wow Congratulations! 🎉 I heard about that, it's very selective
THAT'S AMAZING! Congratulations!
CONGRATS! Total shock to me too!
you got it too?! What kind of ECs did you do? I'm curious about the kinds of things accepted MLK scholars have done!
congrats!! i'll be applying for next year's class and i really really hope i get this scholarship. do you know anything specific that might have given you an advantage in getting it? i feel like i have a good shot of getting in but nyu is so expensive !! also, did you get any other aid in addition to this?
Good luck! I honestly feel like I just pursued something that I was passionate about. All of my ECs were focused in some way around social justice, diversity, etc and it all kind of came together on my common app. For example, my Facebook internship was in the human resources diversity and inclusion recruiting department. In my community college that I attended for junior and senior year, I was part of a group of students pushing to extend campus hours and to make it a sanctuary campus. I started a club on campus centered around civil liberties.
The scholarship (atleast what I could gather online and in the email I got) is for students who in some way have followed MLK's legacy and I guess they thought that was me! As long as your ECs and essay demonstrate a clear, genuine passion and interest in social change, I'd say you have a good shot!
are you going to the scholars weekend?

Example Essay The Martin Luther King, Jr. (MLK) Scholars Program at New York University (NYU) has an extra essay with a 200-word limit. The prompt asks: “In what ways have you enacted change in your community and what has been your motivation for doing so?
Here’s an example: Christopher Nolan’s recurring themes of time and sleep give his films an unparalleled glance into the human psyche, especially in a modern age where it seems time and sleep are in a constant battle for predominance. This thesis has multiple directions in which it can be taken.
The Martin Luther King, Jr. Scholars Program at NYU “In your life’s blueprint... However young you are…You have a responsibility to seek to make life better for everybody. And so you must be involved in the struggle of freedom and justice.”- The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. (1967)
