Essay about Three Things I Would Change in the World

The book collapse by jared diamond.

Though people are uneducated about the problems we have at hand and even some still seem to not care when informed, I still hold out hope. There are people who care, and those people will make a difference because every small difference leads to a bigger difference. “Attitudes are also changing… the thousands of protests against chemical plants and waste incinerators show the extent of concern about the environmental health.” (320-321, When a Billion Chinese Jump). I hold out hope that we can change the global environmental problems we faced and make a difference. Though this won’t be easy to change it won’t be impossible.

Personal Narrative: Changing The World

If I could change the world I would change a few things in my life like cancer, chores, and give myself a few million dollars. I could help a lot of people if I got rid of cancer. I would also help myself if I got rid of chores. Finally, give myself a few million dollars. There is a lot of devastation in the world and here are a few things I would change to help make it

Change In America

There are so many ways that we can change the world we are living in today. I think I would want to change the world by putting a stop on drugs, alcohol, and smoking and making this a serious thing. People have told me that some kind of drugs are good for you and I tell them “that is for the dogs none of that is true” and all I have to say about this is not one drug on this earth is going to help breathe when you wake up the next morning. The reasons people drink is for their own entertainment I have heard about how so many people have drunk to get something off of their mind. Not to be offensive but that is something that hurts other people and hurts you also.” Promising this is the best thing I will ever do” I will never drink any alcohol for the rest of my living days. Every time I turn on the news all I hear about is how people drinking and driving. We all know for sure they can put a ban on items like this but I don’t see it happening any time soon. When I turn on the news to see how people have got diseases from putting a cigarette in their mouth. How would you make a change in world?

Changing Or Getting Rid Of Things In The World

Changing or getting rid of something in the world is a strong power, you have to be wise on what you choose. If you could change three things in the world what would you change? Getting rid of tea, winter, and change the use of cell phones would make my world better.

How Did Susan B. Anthony Impact The Women's Suffrage Movement?

“If we could change ourselves, the tendencies in the world would also change. As a man changes his own nature, so does the attitude of the world change towards him... We need not wait to see what others do.” — Mahatma Gandhi

The Uncomfortable Truths Of War In Night By Elie Wiesel

The uncomfortable truths that people must confront when dealing with war is endless. War not only affects the troops that are fighting but it affects the people trying to make a living in that area. The popular war, World War Two caused the German industry to collapse, there were bombings and housing stocks decreased. The victims of war can be affected physically and mentally by all the tragedies they face, whether they be fighting in the war or just living through it. The truths that come with war can be unbearable and tragic to nations but they cannot be avoided. These uncomfortable truths that war brings about do not only affect the country but also the people themselves.

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder In Veterans

So many people we know go to war in their lifetime. Men, women, fathers, mothers, sons, daughters, aunts, uncles, cousins, and even our friends. No matter what their title may to you, those soldiers risk their lives fighting in order to keep each and every one of our families safe at night. However, once their home from the war, who takes the time to evaluate and treat the soldiers on the horrifying things they witnessed, the tragedy of losing their brothers in combat, and the acts they had to endure just to keep themselves alive. Too many soldiers come home from war wounded in more than a physical way, yet it goes untreated in far too many cases. Issues such as substance abuse, psychological impairments (PTSD, anxiety, depression etc.), and

Sabotage In Ww2

Honestly, before trying to point out mistakes in the world, point out your mistakes first. Don’t think you can change the world without changing the world first. Gandhi once said, “Be the change that you want to see in the world,” (Gandhi). Instead of trying to transform the world, alter the way you think. Differences between people are created when people feel superior than others, so stop thinking this and believe you’re all equal to everyone around you. Discriminating is the reason why history kept repeating itself and why people felt ashamed and humiliated. Most importantly, do not judge others. You have no idea what that persons been through and how he or she feels, don’t jump the gun before knowing all the facts. This way people feel safe in the world and feel pleasant about themselves since they have no

Hero’S Journey. Poverty, Disease, Global Warming, This

Poverty, disease, global warming, this is the year 2017, and the world we currently suffer in. Since the beginning of mankind, we have lived in a world of war and hate. Why have we never done anything to change the way we live? No matter where you go on this earth, there is disease and famine. We see it everywhere we go, even in my small hometown of Laurel Montana. As I have lived her for my whole life of 20 years, I have seen the town thrive and fall. People standing on the street corner begging for spare change, business’ closing their doors because they can no longer afford to be open. What difference can I make? A kid from a small town, in a state that has a small population, who will make the biggest difference this

Victims Of Disabled Homeless Veterans

War can be defined as armed conflict between nations or states or even different groups within a nation or state. All these wars, approximately 14,000 in the past 5,000 years, take innocent civilians away from their family, home, what they know for months or even years at a time. Often times the conditions these individuals are living in while at war are far from the normal life they previously lived. Vets often see and have to do certain task that no human being should be required to do. Leaving behind a lot of mental repairing to do once back home. Once a war comes to an end, these civilians are thrown back into a culture they have been away from for months, even years with little to no direction on where to start to build their lives again.

Effects Of Globalization On North America

More than six billion individuals live on planet Earth. As the populace develops, we are taking increasingly land to live and utilizing a greater amount of the world's characteristic assets. Numerous human exercises likewise create POLLUTION, which is harming the Earth's surroundings.

Homelessness In America

Mahatma Gandhi, the civil rights leader, once said, “Be the change you want to see in the world.” Ever since the 1900’s, people and the world’s problems have increased since. We’ve gone from wars to assassinations, natural disasters to racism, and from more wars to even more racism. And that’s just in America. Even now, problems still exist, and continue to increase throughout the years. Many people are trying to stop some issues, however not enough people care. Due to worrying about their own safety and social status, rather than helping others that are in the midst of danger and even death. There are many changes needed in this world, but I have two matters I’d like to specifically address.

Essay On My Responsibility To America

In regards to solving these issues, it all begins with me. Perhaps a single person cannot change the entirety of a nation alone, but he or she may lead to an inspiration and motivation for others. As a result, I must bear my own responsibility, and hope that I can be a model to others. I hope that I am able to inspire others to take part in the monumentally important tasks which will affect not only myself but also the world during our time and during our posterity’s

Persuasive Essay On Pollution

Your day has been great so far. You went on vacation, you found a dollar bill on the floor, you ate your favorite dish, nothing can be better than this. As soon as you walk on the boardwalk you are hoping to see big waves and fish in the sea, instead, you see dead fish and some animals floating in the water next to old car tires, trash, and fertilizer. Now you feel terrible and want to go home. Pollution is devastating. The reason why I researched this topic is that I do not want my family nor my planet to get sick. Pollution can be stopped very easily, it’s just that people “don’t know” how to stop or they just don’t care, which is a serious problem. I want people to see that pollution is mainly caused by humans, and also for them to see that it is a horrible thing that is happening. Some kids litter because they see their parents and their whole family doing it. When I was researching this topic, I noticed that I needed to find out more information, so I asked questions to myself. When did pollution get so bad? How many animals have gone extinct because of pollution? How many people die each year because of pollution? How much does everyone on the planet pollute each year? What is the best way to stop pollution? Can just one person make a difference? After a lot of research, I found out lots of ways that we can stop pollution, so it is possible to end it. Or at least improve the air.

Our Environment: the Sum Total of Our Surroundings

A photograph of Earth reveals a great deal, but it does not convey the complexity of our environment. Our environment (a term that comes from the French environner, “to surround”) is more than water, land, and air; it is the sum total of our surroundings. It includes all of the biotic factors, or living things, with which we interact. It also includes the abiotic factors, or nonliving things, with which we interact. Our environment includes the continents, oceans, clouds, and ice caps you can see in the photo of Earth from space, as well as the animals, plants, forests, and farms that comprise the landscapes around us. In a more inclusive sense, it also encompasses our built

Thus, the possibility of changing the world might be perceived solely as a positive concept at first. However, without the ability to encompass and understand the global implications of the changes that I would make, I would take the actions that would most likely result in the suffering of multiple people, which is why the described scenario is highly undesirable.

Essay on Change the World in a Day

The problems facing the world today are great, and will require the efforts of billions of people working together to overcome them. How could such an endeavor occur in one day? The answer is that change begins inside oneself. The great change-agent Mahatma Gandhi once said, “Be the change that you wish to see in the world”. Everyone thinks of changing the world, but no one thinks of changing themselves. Yet, once each individual is committed to change and acts upon that commitment, the world will change. First, I would raise awareness that each person needs to change. Ghandi understood that the beginning of change is awareness. We cannot change what we do not acknowledge. By becoming more aware, we begin the process of change. I would accomplish this by having an ad at the next Superbowl. This ad would advertise a person realizing his or her own mistakes and correcting them. This ad would represent a person being aware of themselves rather than every other thing around them. To be the change we want to see in the world, we don’t have to be loud, nor do we have to be eloquent or elected. We do, however, have to be committed. All significant changes throughout history have occurred not because of nations, armies, governments and certainly not committees; they happened as a result of the courage and commitment of individuals like Ghandi. To increase individuals' commitment to change, I would start a website similar to a website known as GreenAllowance. The Show More

How Can I Change the World: Essay

Our objective is to change the world into a united, color-blind society. Instead, we intend for, as my father advocated, people, to be “judged by the content of their character.”

As a little boy, I remember receiving inequitable treatment. As naïve as I was, I never understood why I was treated so differently from the white children. As far as I was concerned, we were all the same; human. I remember constantly moving, and never residing in the same house for too long. I remember having to be cautious around potentially dangerous white people, everywhere I went, including those entrusted with the protection of our community.

My childhood was considerably the scariest time of my life – you never knew who to trust, what was good or bad, or what was correct in the eyes of the whites. My mind was struggling to grasp the nature of the sadistic ways of the world. The feelings I felt were inexplicable, as were those of other blacks growing up during the segregation period. I do not have children yet, but I hope and pray that the day I do, the world will be a changed place, for the better. I hope it will be clean of the racism that still plagues our world.

how would i change the world essay

When my father gave his greatest speech for blacks, ‘I Have a Dream, it inspired them, gave them hope, and brought them peace. However, when the whites saw the hope that my father had given the blacks, they caused an uproar in wild, racist attacks, killing hundreds of black people. The hope that my father had given the blacks, inspired them to never stop fighting. In return, the whites took the life of the source of this hope, my father, Martin Luther King. Because they tried to prove their superiority, it showed us their perspective on the future and struck fear into our hearts. They used this fear against us and showed us that we could do nothing about it.

Throughout my years, I have acted in movies relating to my family and racism against blacks in times of segregation. I have written books about my youth and what it was like for my family, growing up in those strenuous times. I wrote about how we were middle-class citizens, of a higher rank than most African-Americans, and yet, were still mistreated. Although my efforts to raise awareness of racism may seem much, I still believe there is far more work to be done. Although we are no longer racially segregated, there is still an underlying difference between blacks and whites.

When my father shared his dream with the world to try to cleanse the world, and shape it to be a pure, equal, and fair place. He did it for the future black race, you, myself, and our future children. He did it because he saw that even after the Emancipation Proclamation was declared, there was still little to no change in American society. Even though my father died, he gave everything up for his family, his race, and his color. He was willing to die to prove that the world needed change.

We, as civil rights activists, should be more like my father. We need to do everything we can to change the world. If one man can change the world for the better, then why can we, as a people, not? Is it because we are black? Well, let me tell you, my dear brothers and sisters, as the good book says, we are all God’s children. Through his eyes, we are all equal. This should not change because of the color of our skin. I believe that, as blacks, if we stand tall, if we fight back in a manner in which the whites can see eye-to-eye, I believe that we can change the world and make it a better place. For me, for you, for our children, and for generations to come; pure from racism, forever!

Dreams and goals are not the same. The difference between dreams and goals is that dreams are ideal goals, while goals are realistic, measurable, and attainable. Essay: Can One Person Change The World?

Martin luther king, jr.: the power of one.

Many things in this world affect people 's lives every day, but the thing that stands out most is the power of one. When someone performs an act of kindness or a good deed, that spreads. It creates a ripple effect and it all started with one person. When I think of the power of one, one man comes to mind; Martin Luther King, Jr. He fought for what he believed in. He was an inspiration to many African Americans, and he made a change that shapes our country to this day. Martin Luther King, Jr. is an excellent example of what one man can do.

The Wright brothers are influential because of their accomplishments, character, and his heroic acts.

Lucy Flucker Knox Quotes

Lucy Flucker Knox helped with her own time and resources when ever possible. "I hope you will consider yourself as commander in chief of your own house, but be convinced, that there is such a thing as equal command.” By Lucy Flucker Knox. This quote means that everyone has an equal say. No one should be more powerful than someone else. This is one of the reasons she is famous. She didn’t think she had a lesser value than someone else. Lucy is a famous person because she helped everyone and was brave during the Revolutionary war.

Argumentative Essay On Tipping Point

(Question 3) The Tipping Point of a product is like the outbreak of a disease. It’s what makes it memorable to the point where everyone knows what one is talking about. In the introduction Gladwell says, “These three characteristics- one, contagiousness; two, the fact that little causes can have big effects; and three, that change happens not gradually but at one dramatic moment- are the same three principles that define how measles moves through a grade-school classroom or the flu attacks every winter” (Gladwell 9). One could determine that a topic has reached a Tipping Point in different ways based on the product. For example, there are shoes known as Chacos.

Personal Narrative: My First Haiti Earthquake

Petra Nemcova once said, “We cannot stop natural disasters but we can arm ourselves with knowledge: so many lives wouldn’t have to be lost if there was enough disaster preparedness.” (Brainy Quote) A natural disaster is unpredictable and will obliterate anything in its path. Families and victims go through sorrow and nuisance. I watched many emotions arise and spirits emerge when I saw the victims of the earthquake that happened in Haiti six years ago. Seeing the devastation of a natural disaster allowed me to change into a better person by helping and wanting to give back to their now extravagant community by rebuilding the kaput, wrecked roads.

Throughout history, there have been many people who have helped shape society today. Jesus, Isaac Newton, Aristotle, Nelson Mandela and many others have made a huge impact on human life. They used their special traits, talents, morals, and beliefs to lead others and help them understand the things going on around the world. His foundation has educated many people on nature, and what we can do to save the Earth. He has published

White Athletes In Sports

I found the topic of how black athletes may be treated different from white athletes interesting. When I was doing my research I wanted to learn more about these ideas in that black people were more athletic than white but whites were more intellectual in sports. I found that this idea has gone on from the beginning since blacks were slaves. It has however changed since then but not enough to where it is equal now. In my paper I wanted to write about how it was in the beginning and how it has since changed in modern times. I also show the difference is how white were treated in sports and how blacks were treated in sports when it comes to their skills and playing. I then wanted to use this to show the racial ideology people have in the NBA

Rosa Parks Refusal

Any person can make a big difference in history. But only if you're committed to making the World a better place. You can make a difference if you do something that will change the World we live in. Maybe start recycling more, fighting for something you believe in can make a difference. Rose Parks' refusal on the bus contribute to the fight for equality because it started the Montgomery Boycott 361 days or 13 months of protest that ended with the U.S. Supreme Court ruling that segregation on public buses is unconstitutional. Now today anyone no matter what color or race can sit anywhere they want

David Carr's Hashtag Activism

In today’s society there are many ways to bring change. In “Hashtag Activism, and Its Limits” by David Carr, we can see the different ways that change may or may not be accomplished. Social Media is a modern day technology used not only as form of expression for many, but also as an outlet for cries of injustice. The word activism is defined as “the policy or action of using bigger is campaigning to bring about political or social change.” However, activism is not only about what a person says but also about what a person does. Through these articles and by analyzing the movements #BlackLivesMatter and the Ice Bucket Challenge we can figure out how and when is change really possible. We must first look at how these organizations use social

World Changers Research Paper

World changers is a worldwide mission effort helping those who need a helping hand around their home. Not only does World Changers build ramps, clean yards, and paint fences; World Changers also shares the message of Jesus Christ through the Gospel. I have had the privilege to go to Fort Pierce Florida this past summer and it was a trip that I will never forget. World Changers is a Mission trip that is definitely a wakeup call to show others and myself how blessed we truly are.

Audre Lorde's Analysis

Audre Lorde takes a huge stand in expressing the responsibility for the oppressed to teach the oppressors their mistakes. This leads to me to the questions, what are the particular details within each of our lives that can be scrutinized and altered to help bring about change? How do we redefine difference for all women?

technology and the changes it brings

The digital divide is beginning to close. The flow of digital information – through mobile phones, text messaging, and the Internet – is now reaching the world’s masses, even in the poorest countries, bringing with it a revolution in economics, politics, and society. In my opinion, the technological innovation that has had the greatest impact on our lives in this country today would be the mobile telecommunication technology. For the last ten to fifteen years, mobile phones have changed our lives in such a way that no other technological change has before. Earlier, people used to book telephone calls in advance, had to go and use near the telephone booths, or sit beside a physical telephone instrument kept in the drawing room of a house, and attend to, or make calls stuck to a place. Now, people simply carry a 200 gram device in their pockets and can travel the world, always connected to their loved ones and business partners, no matter in whatever remote part of the world they are. (However, in certain countries, mobile coverage does...…

The Effects of Texting on Literacy: Is It Corrupting Language?

What’s SMS? SMS first appeared in GSM in about 1991. SMS later appeared in CDMA and TDMA networks. Mobile Origination (MO) - a key feature of SMS, allowing the user to originate SMS messages from the handset - has only became available to non-GSM users in 2000. Ask a kid anywhere in the world, he or she would tell it is form of talking to another person(s), with a cell phone using letters and not words. SMS means “short messaging service”. Meaning sending and receiving short, most of the time very short messages, to and fro one another. Texting also refer to the art and skills of using abbreviations and other techniques to create SMS and instant messages. Texting does not always follow the standard rules of English grammar, nor usual word spellings. Texting has become so widely used and persuasive that it is almost regarded as a new language register. Thanks to the proliferation of mobile phones as well as internet-based instant messaging (IM). There is a new wave of communication sweeping across the world. Generations are now typing, texting and tweeting their own unique language. Instead we see a lot of people typing messages on those tiny keypads, using their mobile phones to send text messages. The majority of today’s mobile phone users have become texters. One big advantage that everyone likes is that text messaging is one of the cheapest and fastest ways of communicating with people around the world. For example if you have to tell something to someone, but you don’t want to interrupt them with a phone call, you can text them and they can look at it when they have a chance.…

What Impact Has Cell Phone on Society Today?

I had always believed that cell phones are not for everyone, that they are meant for the rich and powerful until few years back in Nigeria when the Nigerian Communications Commission introduced the Global System for Mobile (GSM) network. The use of cell-phones soared; everyone including my grandmother acquired a cell phone. Looking back to what life used to be before the cell phone evolution few years ago, it gives me a clear understanding of the positive impact cell phones had on the society. I remember when my father used to travel home every week from Lagos to see my grandmother in the village; because there was no other way he could communicate with her. However, cell phone innovation has made it possible for my father to be in touch with my grandmother in the village on a regular basis. The way people used to communicate and do business has changed tremendously; the life of the common people has also been touched in different ways. It cuts across every facet of life, which is why I feel delighted to talk about the…

Modernization of Technology

According to Mr. Alvin Toffler, “The streams of change run together to form even larger, deeper, swifter rivers of change that flow into something still larger”. Nowadays, even though you’re not a really kind observer, you will really feel that the world is gradually changing: changes in methods; tools and equipment; changes in types of houses; changes in furniture; changes in literature and other forms of art; changes in belief, customs and traditions. Almost everything changes, evolved into a new form. Everywhere, changes is taking place.…

How We Can Change the World: Nelson Mandela

Nelson Mandela once said, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” The importance of an education is repeatedly shown through past and present events. Those who can’t afford an education do whatever it takes to try and learn. They know that it will lead to a better future for them. An education will not only lead to a job with more money, but it will also expand people’s minds. They will be able to create new ideas and inventions. The best way for us to change the world is through educating our youth. With a better education, they can become inspired to invent new things. Some could grow up to find cures to diseases. Educating the youth is the key to changing the world. The children of today are the leaders of tomorrow. The best way for us to give a good education to our youth is by refining our school system. We need to redefine the term ‘education.’ Teachers in classrooms change the world because they are teaching the future generation that will one day lead. If we want to change the world for the better, educating the youth is th...

My Plan to Change the World

My Plan to Change the World The world is gigantic, and many people live in it. That is why when someone says they want to make a change in the world; no one is willing to help. However, it’s a simple concept; it is very easy to make a difference. If we start with something small, and many people decide to help, then we can make a difference that will affect the world. Even small changes can affect the world because a small idea can influence other ideas, and influence others to want to help as well. Each person in the world should find a way to use their talents and knowledge to help our world. I was born in Brazil, and lived there until I was about nine years old. I learned, by watching, that there are more people that need help than people who are willing to help. Compared to the United States, Brazil is a poor country. There are many people living in the streets without homes; children without an education. Violence is a way of life there, because not everyone can get jobs. Some people need to steal in order to survive. Its absurd how there are so many problems that we need to end. I want to help my country as much as I can. In an environment with people who need so much help, it’s not a hard thing to support others. The problem is that people are unwilling to help. I have decided that I want to live my life helping others. My future is already planned. I want to live in America until I am done with college, then I want to move back to Brazil. There, I will work in universities teaching English and possibly Spanish (foreign languages). Separate from my work, I want to gather a group of people who live in the streets, and are in need of help. I will teach them English, and Spanish for free; that way the can obtain jobs. Also, outside from that, I will provide homes, food, and other basic necessities. My plan and only wish is to help others. I want my story to be about a girl who worked hard to study and make money to help others achieve success. I believe in being helpful to others not to be recognized but to affect people’s lives in a positive way, like the bible tells us to. I will also teach my group about the love of god, and the difference he can make in their lives. He inspired me to make this preparation. He has his own plans for each of our lives. We just have to seek him, and he will give us the strength we need to go on.. What I am going to do to help others is not going to affect the world by itself. Though, it may influence other ideas, as well as others to want to help. Small things you do for the world make simple differences, and little by little, our world will become an improved place to live in. I made a decision to help others, because I feel I have to give back to the world that has given me so many opportunities. If everyone decided to help, then we could all make the world a better world for all of us.
